4. Why would I hire a Tender Heart Home Care caregiver versus a private

duty caregiver?

  • If you hire privately you are responsible for all state & federal payroll taxes.
  • If you don't obtain workers compensation insurance on your private duty caregiver you could be found responsible for any injuries that occur in your home. Do you have insurance or the funds to compensate filed claims?
  • Do you have a backup replacement caregiver in the event your caregiver doesn't show up? Who will stay home and take care of your loved one if the caregiver doesn't show up? Can the individual receiving care be left alone without care?
  • Is the private duty caregiver bonded against theft, criminal background checked, and CPR/First Aid certified?
  • Do they have any supervision to make sure your loved one is getting the best possible care?

There are too many potentially unsafe concerns when hiring privately. Tender Heart Home Care does not recommend this option.
